Spring Cleaning 101

Inspect.

Decide what needs cleaning.

Walk around your home with a pen and paper in hand.

Either make a heading on your page for each room or use a separate page for each room of the house (don't forget the garage!)

Write down what specifically needs cleaning for that room: ie Living Room:- clean walls, clean drapes, clean carpet etc.

Recruit. If possible recruit your children, spouse, friends other family members.

Use incentives to recruit and motivate for children you can pay them a fee per job. With friends, you can promise to help clean their house in turn.

Delegate.

Decide what jobs on your inspection list would best be done by whom. If you are going to clean carpets, decide whether the job is best done by a professional or whether you will be able to tackle this yourself by renting a machine (most supermarkets have carpet washing machines you can rent).

Schedule. Use a calendar or agenda with enough space to write down the details. Break up each of the tasks on your list into estimated 30 minute intervals (be realistic). It is better that you overestimate at this point than if you underestimate. Make sure that when you schedule, you include breaks and meal times.

Make a list of all the needed supplies.

Check off what you already have on hand.

Purchase what you are missing.

Begin.

Stick to your schedule as much as possible but remember to be flexible especially if your children are helping. If you feel you are getting out of breath or too tired, take a long break. You will be more efficient if you are well rested.

Finish and enjoy your clean house!

We hope these spring cleaning tips helped.
