Traveling Tips

Travelling Tips! Travelling with your family can be great fun if you are prepared.

The first thing you should prepare is your home. Often people don't give much thought to preparing their home before they travel. In this web site you will find invaluable safety and theft proofing tips: http://www.ncpc.org/1pro3dc.htm

The next thing people often fail to prepare for is the weather they'll be having where they are going. Although you can never be exactly sure, you can, with a little help have a good indication of what kind of weather to expect and whether there will be flight delays. Our suggestion for checking these important conditions: http://www.weather.com/activities/travel

Another important detail that has been known to cause near divorces is proper directions! Looking for a map and having a hard time finding it? Try this link: http://www.mapquest.com They will even give you the driving directions you need from point A to B! Plus you can print out the maps, there are zoom in and zoom out features too.

Tight budget? Why not travel to your own city or town but as a tourist. We did this one year and it was great! We went to all the tourists locations (many of which we had never seen.) We even took pictures and mailed our friends and family postcards! The grass isn't always greener on the other side&ldots; You can swap with friends and family a week or two (hmmm...where was that phone number of my third cousins removed living in France?).

Going camping can be fun and less expensive too. Here is an extensive checklist of things you'll need for camping as well as a first aid kit checklist: http://www.lovetheoutdoors.com/camping/Checklists.htm

And finally this lovely article on 10 travel tips when traveling with teens (written by, you guessed it, a teen) http://www.kidtravels.com/tenteentips.htm Have a safe trip!
