When a recipe calls for buttermilk and you don't have any, replace it by adding
a tbsp. of white vinegar to the milk and mixing before adding to your recipe.
This is especially great in pancakes.

T O D A Y' S M I X R E C I P E

Mom's Sugar Cookies Gift Mix
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 cups white flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
one empty quart jar
Directions
In a empty jar, layer the ingredients neatly.
With each jar you give make sure to print
the following instructions:
Additional Ingredients needed:
1 egg
1 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1. In a large bowl: beat egg with butter until light and fluffy.
2. Mix add sour cream, vanilla and
contents of jar on low speed.
3. Cover dough and refrigerate overnight.
Remove dough from the refrigerator.
4. Preheat oven to 375F. Roll chilled dough out on a
lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thick. Cut dough and place
on cookie sheet. Bake at 375F for 10-12 minutes.
